The UK government has fast-tracked legislation creating a unit to investigate illegal sports betting, the News of the World reported. Rick Parry, ex-Liverpool chief executive recommended the formation of the Sports Betting Intelligence Unit. The unit will analyzing and collecting evidence on illegal sports gambling and match fixing.

The government will also encourage player’s associations to establish a code of conduct regarding betting, as well as train new players.
Hugh Robertson, Minister for Sports and the Olympics, has written to MS Gill for the topic to feature highly on the agenda at the meeting of Common Wealth Sports Ministers and is also in plans to meet ICC president Sharad Pawar.
