Looks like everything around is just conspiring to make humans fatter. As it turns out, your levels of exposure to chemicals used in everyday products can determine the fat content in your body, claims a recent study.
Phthalates are chemicals found in everything from plastic products and soap to nail polish, and they give plastic its bendy stretch. But growing research shows that they could be detrimental to people’s health.
Lead author Lei Yin said phthalate exposure could be closely associated with the rise of different types of diseases and obesity in humans.
Researchers revealed that some phthalates have proven to cause reproductive toxicity at high levels of exposure.
The research, which appeared in the journal Toxicology in Vitro, was conducted on mice and could be of great importance if also found true for humans.
