Filmmaker Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s debut Hindi film Pink, which released this Friday, seems to have struck a chord with the viewers by bringing the importance of a woman’s consent to sex right at the heart of the gender debate.
The movie has received rave reviews by critics, audiences and the Bollywood fraternity alike, largely because of its strong script, powerful performances and for tactfully dealing with an issue that the Hindi film industry has been avoiding for a long time.
Co-produced by Shoojit Sircar, Pink stars megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang, Angad Bedi and Piyush Mishra in important roles.
Twitter has been in frenzy — applauding and congratulating the cast and the crew — since the film hit the theatres. And first in line are the celebs of tinsel town and cricket fraternity. An overwhelmed Sircar has been retweeting all kinds of reactions and thanking all and sundry. Meanwhile, senior Bachchan, who plays a lawyer defending the girls in movie, also took to Twitter on Sunday to acknowledge the widespread appreciation.
