Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 has created history by becoming the highest Hindi grosser of 2017. The film is a retread of Judwaa starring Salman Khan.

Varun Dhawan’s Judwaa 2 has become the highest Hindi grosser of 2017 on Sunday after collecting Rs 137 crore at the box office. The film, also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles, comes second only to Baahubali: The Conclusion - the Prabhas-starrer that set new box office records earlier this year. While the film collected over Rs 1700 crore worldwide, its dubbed Hindi version went on to earn Rs 510 crore approximately.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures Monday morning and wrote, “#Judwaa2 is now the SECOND HIGHEST GROSSER of 2017 *so far*, after #Baahubali2... Judwaa 2 is a remake of Salman Khan’s 1997 hit comedy that featured Karisma Kapoor and Rambha in lead roles. Both Judwaa and Judwaa 2 were directed by David Dhawan. Salman also made a guest appearance in Varun Dhawan’s film.

Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees made a lifetime collection of Rs 128 crore while Akshay Kumar’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha earned Rs 132 crore.
