Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Nandita Das pose at Manto world premiere in Cannes, see pics

Bollywood actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rasika Duggal,alongwith filmmaker Nandita Das, are attending the 71st Cannes Film Festival for the world premiere of their upcoming film, Manto. Nawazuddin essays the titular role in the film that has the teaser launch on Saturday at Cannes.

Sharing pictures from the premiere, Rasika wrote on Instagram, “And it’s out there! World premiere of #Manto #Cannesfilmfestival”

Nawazuddin also shared pictures from his hotel room as he prepared for his Cannes appearance and wrote, “Here I am, getting dressed to impress. This time, Manto & not Nawazuddin Siddiqui will visit the Cannes Film Festival. This time, you’ll see Cannes through the eyes of Manto. Filmmaker Nandita Das, along with actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Rasika Duggal, was also at the Cannes Film Festival. Manto has been selected to compete in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

Earlier, speaking at the teaser launch on Saturday, Nandita said it was not a message-driven film. “The idea is to tell a story for audience. We are not putting ‘Manto’ on a pedestal. He was somebody who used to speak the truth despite all challenges he faced. For youth, it is extremely inspirational to see someone like him. I think it’s a film where the audience will be able to take home something and everyone will relate with his personality,” she was quoted as saying by PTI.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who is also at Cannes, chose a fresh, white and blue dress paired with a red-coloured stole.

The festival earlier saw Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut walking the red carpet. Sonam Kapoor is also set to walk the red carpet soon.
