Newton and Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) actor Pankaj Tripathi has been roped in for the Indian remake of the popular British crime show Criminal Justice. While the actor is keeping his role under wraps, he confirms that the show will be remade as a web series for the Indian audience. Speaking of roles with grey shades, Pankaj impressed audiences and critics in Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and Gurgaon (2017).

The series is to be directed by Haasil (2003) and Paan Singh Tomar (2010) director Tigmanshu Dhulia. Tripathi, who will star alongside Jackie Shroff and Vikrant Massey in the show, is psyched about the opportunity.

“I am very excited to be part of the Criminal Justice remake in India. This is my second digital series, and it is amazing to see how much audiences are loving the digital space. My role and the details of the show are still being chalked out, but looking at both the British and American versions, I know there is going to be a bit of everything in this show. I am looking forward to working with Tigmanshu Dhulia, Jackie Shroff and Vikrant Massey.”

Criminal Justice first aired in 2008 and had two seasons with different story lines, both centering around murder mysteries. It was one of the most-watched crime thrillers on British television and its popularity got it an American remake called The Night Of, starring Riz Ahmed and John Turturro.
