Ravi Kishan on casting couch: You will never get ahead in life by sleeping around
Actor Ravi Kishan reveals that unsolicited sexual advances are made towards both men and women, but it is important not to give in, even at the cost of one’s career, as there’s no future in selling oneself.
Mukkabaaz actor Ravi Kishan, who has been a part of the entertainment industry for almost three decades now, feels that both men and women are subjected to unsolicited sexual advances and the casting couch in the entertainment industry.
“Encounters with sexual predators happen with boys, as well as girls. This is part and parcel of the game. You get to know eventually how you have to get out of this situation, and save yourself from getting into that game,” says the actor.
Though casting couch has been a consistent point of debate in Bollywood, the massive sexual harassment scandal in Hollywood involving big names including producer Harvey Weinstein, the question has never been more relevant here.
Ravi, therefore, feels that saying no to unwanted sexual advances and abuse is important, even if it feels detrimental to one’s career. “By sleeping around, you will never be able to get ahead in life. There’s no future in selling yourself. Yes, you might get something in that particular moment, but in the longer run, it will break you from inside. You won’t be able to cope at your inner conscious level, as you will realize that whatever you have achieved so far has been because of this,” says Ravi.
