Sharman, Boman meet the Ferrari owner
Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani go to Surat to meet the owner of the car that features in film.
When someone gives you a ride, you say thanks. But what do you do when someone lends you his Ferrari? When Surat-based businessman Jayesh Desai gave the makers of Ferrari Ki Sawaari his million-dollar car to work with, the director and actors decided they needed to thank the man personally.
So Sharman Joshi, along with co-star Boman Irani and director Rajesh Mapuskar, drove down to Surat from Ahmedabad to thank Desai for letting them use his car. The three were in Ahmedabad as part of their tour to promote the film when they made this impromptu decision.
Says an insider from the film unit, "As far as we know, the Ferrari originally belonged to Sachin Tendulkar and was sold to Desai a few months ago. But on Sachin’s request, he immediately agreed to lend us his Ferrari for the film. Since Sharman, Boman and Rajesh were in Ahmedabad, they thought it would be nice to personally thank Jayesh for his gesture."When contacted, Mapuskar confirms: “It was very kind of Jayesh to lend us his Ferrari. So we wanted to personally thank him for his gesture.” The suggestion, it seems, was made by Sharman, to which Boman and Rajesh readily agreed.
“They altered their entire schedule and drove down to Surat,” says the insider. The Sharman-starrer Ferrari Ki Sawaari, produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, releases on June 15. The film will also see the Bollywood actor we can’t seem to get enough of — Vidya Balan — doing a lavni number, ‘Mala jau de’. 3 Idiots (2009) director Rajkumar Hirani is also involved with the film as the dialogue writer.
