Over the last two years, several reports have claimed that Shah Rukh Khan is going to play Dhyan Chand in a biopic on the hockey legend. But when we asked the actor for his comments, he denied the news altogether.

"Don’t believe what you read in the papers. I have also read that I am doing a film on Dhyan Chand," says Shah Rukh, laughing off the matter. He adds, "I have never been offered a film on Dhyan Chand. I have been reading about it in the papers."

In 2012, five years after he played a hockey coach in Chak De! India (2007), sources insisted that he was going to star in the biopic. Then, in 2013, after the success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag — a film on sprinter Milkha Singh — the news had resurfaced when biopics were all that Bollywood seemed interested in making.

Around this time, a report had also claimed that Shah Rukh would be producing the Dhyan Chand project. But the actor denies this too, saying, "I read in the papers that I am [producing it]. I don’t know who is even making it."

Dhyan Chand is widely considered one of the greatest hockey players India has ever seen. He had bagged three Olympic gold medals in three consecutive seasons in 1928, 1932 and 1936.
