Vidya Balan, who will start shooting for her next on June 11 in Jharkhand, has started preparing for her role. The film is the Hindi remake of director Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali movie, Rajkahini. As part of her research, the Bollywood actor has started reading Urvashi Butalia’s The Other Side Of Silence, which is based on the Partition.
A source close to Vidya says, “The book contains more than 70 interviews with survivors of the Partition. The survivors have particularly spoken about the violence against women during that period. Since the film is set in that period, Vidya is finding the book extremely insightful. It is helping her understand the era better.”
