After receiving many awards for his impactful performance in Force (2011), actor Vidyut Jamwal is geared up for another Bollywood outing, Commando, where he is playing the lead for the first time.
Directed by Dilip Ghosh, the film boasts of action and stunts performed by the 32-year-old all by himself. “It’s a hardcore action-drama film. It’s for the first time in Indian cinema that an actor has performed all the stunts by himself, without using a harness, cable or a body double. I’m trained in Martial arts which has definitely helped me. The biggest high is that we have got superb response to the trailer from all over, including international action directors. I’m overwhelmed,” he tells us.
His next project is another action film, Bullet Raja, directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia. “It’s an honour to work with Tigmanshu Dhulia. He thinks I can act which is a big compliment for me,” says the actor. Would he like to explore genres other than action as well, we ask? “Action can be there in all genres like action-romance or action-thriller. I would like to do other genres but action has to be there,” he explains. The actor has done a couple of regional films as well. So is he still open to regional cinema? “Of course. Regional cinema is great. If I get a nice role, why not.”
Vidyut would also like to try his hand at the small screen. “I would like to host an action reality show,” he says. Dismissing reports about his secret marriage to TV actor Mona Singh, he says, “I don’t want to talk about it, but I’m not married.”
