Nirav Modi left India with family in first week of January, says police source
Nirav Modi, a regular feature on the lists of rich and famous Indians since 2013, was booked by the CBI for allegedly cheating the state-run Punjab National Bank to the tune of Rs 280 crore.
Nirav Modi, who is facing accusations that he defrauded the state-run Punjab National Bank of Rs 11,400 crore, left the country on January 1 even before a case against him was registered, a federal police source told Reuters on Thursday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation last week said they were investigating Modi and others over accusations that they defrauded Punjab National Bank.
The police source said they had issued a “look out” notice for Modi after registering a case against him on Jan. 31.
Modi has not commented on the case so far.
