MG's Hector SUV clocks one lakh milestone in just three years: Report

Hector SUV formed the backbone of the company's sales India and averaged 1,500 units a month. Last year, the company had offered a minor facelift version of its flagship SUV. According to report, Hector SUV is set to get its new version with upgrades by next month.

British auto major MG's sports utility vehicle Hector has sold one lakh units in the past three units. It is dubbed as India's first ‘internet SUV' and known as the best-selling model of the company, Hindustan Times' automobile website HT Auto reported.

Hector SUV has sold 1,500 units a month since its launch three years ago. Last year, the company had offered a minor facelift version of its flagship SUV. According to report, Hector SUV is set to get its new version with upgrades by next month.

Hector SUV has a starting price of 14.42 lakh (ex-showroom) and is available in both petrol and diesel engine variants. It is mated to both manual and continuously variable transmission options, the top variant is priced at 20.36 lakh (ex-showroom). It is competing with models like Mahindra Scorpio, Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV 700 and Tata Harrier. The carmaker will be increasing the price of the SUV in January.

The new version of MG Hector is expected to have design changes and new features. It will sport a new-look grille and chrome inserts with gloss black elements. There will be a skid plate with a chrome insert.

The new SUV will have the largest infotainment screen when it launches next month. The touchscreen infotainment system will be updated with a new user interface and i-Smart technology.

According to the HT Auto report, the new MG Hector SUV will be powered by other features like an Advanced Driver Aids System, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, stop-and-go traffic assist and others.
