Toyota reopens bookings for Hilux pickup truck
Hilux was launched in India in March last year. Bookings, however, were ‘temporarily halted’ in February as the company found it would not be able to meet the heightened demand for the vehicle.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Monday reopened bookings for its Hilux pickup truck, nearly a year after ‘temporarily halting’ the bookings for the vehicle, which was launched in India in March last year.
Hilux, which will come in three variants, has a price range of ₹33.99 lakh to ₹36.80 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). Bookings for the truck are available on the Toyota Kirloskar website, as well as the TKM dealerships.
Toyota Hilux: Powertrain
Based on the same platform as the company's Fortuner SUV, Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine and is available in six-speed automatic and manual gearbox options. All three variants have drive modes such as Power and Eco.
Toyota Hilux: Features
The vehicle has features such as LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights etc. Inside the cabin, there is a large tablet-style, eight-inch touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity; leather seats, dual-zone fully automatic temperature control, smart entry and auto headlamps etc.
For passenger safety, meanwhile, there are features such as seven SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TC) among others.
Why bookings were halted?
In February 2022, TKM said though it was ‘delighted' with the ‘overwhelming response’ for Hilux. The company, however, also explained it would not be able to meet the heightened demand due to ‘various factors’ impacting the supply. Bookings, therefore, will have to be paused temporarily, it said.
