Late night showers bring relief from humid weather in Chandigarh
It was a pleasant end to a hot and humid Saturday when it started raining at around 11pm. Residents were anxiously waiting the showers for the last couple of days.
According to Chandigarh Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 35.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 28.5 degrees Celsius, which was five degrees above normal.
As per the media bulletin of the Met centre, the maximum relative humidity, which is a marker of the moisture content in the air, was recorded at 82% on Saturday, while the minimum was 52%. According to experts a rise in relative humidity increases the apparent temperature as it hinders the evaporation of perspiration from the skin.
According to the centre, the weather will remain generally cloudy with possibility of more rain from Sunday onwards. Following that the rainy weather will continue for at least three days. “Moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers would occur at many places in the region,” said Chandigarh Meteorological Centre.
