Karnataka CM on bus painting: 'Maharashtra must act, such incidents...'

Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday said he ordered the higher officials to reach out to the Maharashtra government over the disturbances caused to state buses at the state border. He also said nobody has the right to take law and order into their hands and create violence.
A Few buses were reportedly painted with pro-Maharashtra slogans at the border of Karnataka and Maharashtra over the issue of village allocation between the two states.
Leaders of both states have taken potshots at each other earlier on the ongoing border issue. Speaking to the reporters on Saturday, Bommai said, “Nobody for any reason should disturb law and order. I ordered the higher officials in Karnataka to reach out to the chief secretary of Maharashtra regarding the safety of the people of both states. We will make sure such incidents do not repeat and cause inconvenience to people.”
On Friday, a group of activists, from a pro-Maratha outfit, painted state-owned buses in Karnataka with pro-Maharashtra slogans. Bommai condemned the incident and asked Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde-led government to take immediate measures to put an end to this.
He also stated that such incidents will create a split among the states and thus, Maharashtra must act swifty, news agency PTI reported.
The controversy between the two neighbouring states started after Bommai claimed that some villages in Sangli district - currently located in Maharashtra - have passed a resolution to officially become a part of Karnataka due to the ongoing water crisis.
