At three and two, the daily case tally remained in the single digit at Mohali and Panchkula, respectively, for the fifth consecutive day, but Chandigarh logged 11 cases after eight the day before.

None of the three areas reported a virus-related death for the ninth straight day. The last and only casualty this month was reported by Mohali on March 2.

Meanwhile, tricity’s active cases continued to drop, reducing from 133 to 118 over the past 24 hours. Now, Chandigarh has 60 positive patients, Mohali 47 and Panchkula 11.

94% drop in cases in a month

Notably, in the first 10 days of March, only 230 fresh infections have surfaced in the tricity, a 94% dip from the 4,428 infections reported in the first 10 days of February.

Not only the case tally, the number of deaths is also down from 51 to one when both periods are compared. There is a 93% decrease in the active caseload as well – from 1,952 on February 10 to 133 on March 10.

The tricity clocked 5,981 cases in February, of which the maximum, 2,395, came from Mohali, followed by 2,252 from Chandigarh and 1,334 from Panchkula. In terms of deaths, the UT was the worst hit with 43 fatalities, followed by Mohali (23) and Panchkula (13). In January, the three jurisdictions had reported 59,273 cases and 113 deaths.
