In his complaint to the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Chandigarh, Kuldeep Singh Chahal, Gurwinder alleged that Palwinder Singh, alias Happy hailing from Amritsar, Ravi Gupta and Chhatterpal Singh duped him of ₹16 lakh on the pretext of sending his wife abroad but neither they sent his wife abroad nor returned the money.
Gurwinder said Chhatterpal had introduced him to Palwinder and Ravi as they were running an immigration consultancy, Future Framez, in Sector 34. He said the accused had demanded ₹16 lakh to send his wife Paramjit Kaur on a study visa to England. He was told the entire amount is to be paid in cash. Gurwinder had paid them the money after raising it by taking loans from friends and relatives and against his land on October 15, 2020. After taking money the accused stopped picking his phone and even closed the Chandigarh office.
The police arrested Palwinder, who was produced in a court on Thursday that sent him to three-day police custody. The accused had cheating cases registered in Punjab and the police are getting details of the same.
