Punjab assembly passes resolution to name Ludhiana airport as Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha International Airport
The Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday passed a resolution to request the Centre to name the upcoming International Airport at Indian Air force Station Halwara, Ludhiana as ‘Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha International Airport’.

The resolution was moved by chief minister Bhagwant Mann on the last day of the budget session. Mann also announced a holiday on November 16 to mark the death anniversary of the legendary martyr. Mann further said that the state government will soon complete the construction work of the civil air terminal at Halwara airport and the domestic flights will commence there by May end or June. Another resolution was passed to remember the sacrifices of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru on the occasion of martyrdom day on March 23. Both resolutions were passed unanimously by all MLAs present in the absence of the Congress members.
Mann announced the construction of a heritage street at the native village of Shaheed-e-Aazam Bhagat Singh to showcase the glorious contribution of Punjab and Punjabis in national freedom struggle. “This 850 metre long heritage street will be constructed from the existing Museum to the ancestral house at Shaheed Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan,” the CM said.
