Watchman foils factory theft bid in Ludhiana’s Industrial Area, two held
Police said CCTV footage showed the two suspects arriving at the factory on a motorcycle and keeping watch before one of them entered the premises
A factory watchman foiled a theft attempt at a factory in Industrial Area-A after chasing two motorcycle-borne suspects who allegedly fled with a box of goods. The motorcycle fell after the watchman struck it from behind, following which workers and passers-by caught the duo and handed them over to police.
The incident took place in the area under Janakpuri police post of Division Number 2. Police said CCTV footage showed the two suspects arriving at the factory on a motorcycle and keeping watch before one of them entered the premises.
According to police, the suspect allegedly came out with a box of factory goods and placed it on the motorcycle. As the duo attempted to flee, the watchman raised an alarm and chased them. He then struck the motorcycle from behind, causing both suspects to fall along with the box.
Workers from nearby factories and passers-by caught the two men and assaulted them before a police team reached the spot and took them into custody. The motorcycle was also seized.
ASI Karanjit Singh, in-charge of Janakpuri police post, said, “The suspects are being questioned to ascertain whether they were involved in other theft cases in the area. We are also examining the CCTV footage as part of the investigation.”
