10-yr-old boy on way to Purnagiri shrine dies in accident
The accident comes a day after five pilgrims including three women were killed when a driver trying to park a private bus at Thuligarh lost control and rolled down a slope
RUDRAPUR: A 10-year-old boy trying to board a moving tractor-trolley slipped and was crushed under its wheels in Uttarakhand’s Champawat district on Friday. Police said the boy was part of a group of pilgrims on their way to the Purnagiri shrine
Police said the group had stopped for a break in the Boom area and was resuming the journey when the boy tried to board the moving tractor.
“The boy who lost his life on Friday was trying to get on a moving tractor. He suddenly fell down and came under the wheel of a tractor trolley,” said circle officer of police, Tanakpur, Avinash Verma, said.
The boy was identified by the police as Gaurav from the Puranpur area of Pilibhit district in Uttar Pradesh, about 200km away.
Police said Gaurav was taken to the government hospital in Tanakpur where the doctor declared him dead. The body has been handed over to his relatives. The driver of the tractor-trolley has been arrested and the vehicle seized, said Verma.
A three-month Maa Purnagiri fair is going on in Tanakpur.

On Friday, a couple on their way back from the shrine were also injured when a vehicle hit their motorcycle on Friday. Police said both of them have been admitted to the local hospital for treatment.
