DDA plans to rejuvenate a CWG Village lake using microbial treatment for ₹28 lakh, enhancing water quality sustainably within 200 days.
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Tuesday has decided to rejuvenate a lake at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) Village through biological treatment using microbial culture, officials said.

The project worth around ₹28 lakh is classified as a specialised intervention, officials said.
According to officials, the move aims at improving water quality and restoring the ecological health of thewaterbody. The project is scheduled to be completed within 200 days.
The treatment process will include the introduction of microbial cultures to break down pollutants and organic waste in the water, enhancing its quality in a sustainable manner. The initiative forms part of DDA’s efforts to maintain and upgrade water bodies under its jurisdiction, officials said.
“The model is being implemented on a pilot basis and may be replicated at other locations if the results are found satisfactory,” a DDA official familiar with the project said.
Officials said that microbial treatment is being considered as an alternative to conventional chemical-based methods, with an emphasis on long-term sustainability and minimal environmental impact.
The move comes amid ongoing efforts by civic agencies in Delhi to address water pollution and improve the condition of urban water bodies through scientific and natural solutions.
