The university has set September 10 as the deadline for submitting nomination papers to chief election officer Professor Raj Kishore Sharma, department of chemistry. Those contesting for the Central Council seats must submit them to their respective colleges or departments, DU stated.

The final list of candidates will be published on September 11, and vote counting will take place on September 19, with results expected the same day.

“The prescribed nomination papers for the DUSU office bearers are to be put in the sealed box kept in the office of the chief election officer, DUSU elections 2026-27, at the above address(office of chief election officer, North Campus) from 10am to 5pm on any working day,” stated the notification dated August 13 and signed by DU registrar Vikas Gupta.

Polling will be held on September 18 from 8:30am to 1pm at colleges running the morning-shift colleges, and from 3 pm to 7:30 pm at evening-shift colleges. DU has around 92 colleges, of which nearly 47 are affiliated with DUSU, according to data shared on the DU website.

On August 5, DU vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh in his capacity as Patron of DUSU, appointed Professor Raj Kishore Sharma of the department of chemistry as the chief election officer, and Professor Rajesh Singh, the university librarian, as chief returning officer to oversee the 2026–27 elections.

The university also appointed the principals of colleges and heads of institutions affiliated with DUSU as election officers to oversee the polling process for office-bearers and Central Council members in their respective colleges.
