New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) chairman Manoj Dwivedi on Sunday admitted that the community toilets in parts of Lutyens’ Delhi needed significant improvement.

“Situation of many Public Toilets / Community toilets in NDMC area is not satisfactory. It needs lots of improvements. Will take time to deal with this, but will be done. Have already started working on this for putting a system in place,” he wrote in a post on X. He later shared imaged of some public toilets being cleaned.

Earlier, the chairman had issued an apology to residents after rain triggered waterlogging in several NDMC regions and said the council will strengthen the system to deal with such situations in the future. “There was more than 72mm rainfall in less than 2 hours, this was quite unexpected. But this cannot be an excuse and we will have to strengthen our systems to deal with such situations in future,” Dwivedi had stated after NDMC areas like Talkatora stadium, Connaught Place, areas near Parliament complex among other places saw waterlogging in the recent spell.
