Man dies by suicide in north Delhi, was going through marital discord: Police

The man reportedly used to run a footwear shop in Wazirabad and is survived by his wife and two kids

A 40-year-old man allegedly died by suicide in north Delhi’s Lahori Gate area on Monday, police said.

The police said they received the information on Monday evening and after reaching the spot, they found the man hanging from the ceiling fan inside his house.

Deputy commissioner of police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said, “After reaching the spot, the police found that the man hanged himself from a ceiling fan using a cloth stripe in his room on the second floor of a building in Lahori Gate area.”

The man reportedly used to run a footwear shop in Wazirabad and is survived by his wife and two kids.

According to the police, the man was going through a marital discord and the incident comes after the husband and wife decided to live separately following a family meeting held on Sunday.

A case of alleged suicide under section 174 code of criminal procedure (CrPC), 1973 has been registered and legal proceedings are underway, the DCP said.
