CM resolves 14 of 17 grievances at Gurugram public grievances committee meeting

Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday directed power department officials to resolve a key land issue to set up power infrastructure for an industrial park on Bilaspur-Tauru Road and directed civic officials to designate e-rickshaw parking spots at Sadar Bazar to ease traffic congestion in the locality.

Chairing a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievances Redressal Committeeon the day, CM Saini resolved 14 of 17 public grievances and directed officials concerned to provide a status report on the three pending issues at the next monthly meeting.

“Gurugram’s systems are improving continuously, and positive changes are visible in areas where problems were earlier more pronounced. While heavy rainfall can sometimes put additional pressure on civic infrastructure and lead to waterlogging, the benefits of the work undertaken in recent years are now becoming visible,” Saini said.

The land issue for power infrastructure pertained to the Pioneer Industrial Park. The welfare association complained that the developer had not made available the land required for a proposed 33-kV substation and that the delay was affecting supply to factories.

Saini directed power officials to approach the developer for the land, and also register an FIR against the builder or developer if the land was not provided as required. He directed officials to accord priority to construction of the substation to ensure adequate and uninterrupted power supply to the industrial area.

Traffic congestion and encroachments in Sadar Bazaar also came up for discussion, with a complaint highlighting congestion on the stretch between Post Office Chowk and a bus stand in the area, which serves as a major entry route to the market.

In view of the complaint citing illegal parking of e-rickshaws, autorickshaws and other vehicles on the main carriageway of the road, leading to traffic disruption, Saini directed the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram to designate e-rickshaw stands and suitable passenger pick-up and drop-off points. He also ordered regular enforcement drives to remove encroachments from the market’s entry route and keep the road clear for public movement.

The CM also took serious note of a complaint from residents of Krishna Colony at Jhund Sarai Veeran in Sector 96, alleging development of an unauthorised colony in its vicinity and attempts to sell or facilitate occupation of land demarcated for roads.

Saini directed the officials concerned to register FIRs against those involved in developing unauthorised colonies and take action as per law. He said there would be no tolerance for issues in which residents are misled into investing their hard-earned money in illegal ventures.

The CM said that grievance redressal must not be limited to just immediate relief and that departments must work towards permanent solutions.
