Haryana Tourism plans major redesign of 750-acre Aravalli Golf Course

The 18-hole course, established in 1966, will see upgrades to bunkers, water bodies, landscaping, drainage and irrigation while retaining existing operations.

Haryana tourism department is planning to redesign the Aravalli Golf Course near New Industrial Township (NIT) in Faridabad, officials said on Saturday, adding that a request for proposal to examine the existing design and plan an upgrade was finalised by the department on Thursday.

The department is looking to hire a consultant for the project. “The new plan includes redesigning the facility spread on 750 acres, without affecting its current operations. Consultancy services will be required to submit a final draft of the design report with all improvements, within two months of hiring. The firm will also be required to conduct field inspections throughout the year to monitor the work. The golf course’s main area is covered in 18 holes and fairways,” a senior official at Haryana Tourism said.

According to officials, phased improvements will be planned such as design changes to the various bunkers and water bodies. “Experts will deliberate on forming a landscape design and plantation plan in the coming months. There will be minimal disturbance to the existing trees and vegetation,” the senior official added.

In addition, the consultant shall provide conceptual-level input for non-golfing areas like maintenance facilities and club houses, officials said.

As per the RFP, the department will invite bids for consultancy until August 24, followed by a technical evaluation of submitted proposals. “The hiring criteria will be based on quality and cost-based selection. Firms with a prior background of upgrading golf courses to international standards will be prioritised,” the senior official said.

The latest plan, once approved by the department, will also focus on revamping its drainage and irrigation systems for better disposal and re-using the treated wastewater, officials added.

Notably, the Aravalli Golf Course in Faridabad was established in 1966 and was formally taken over by Haryana Tourism in 1988. The facility also has an in-house restaurant, bar, golfing huts and conference hall.
