NCP chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase said that they were unaware why Memon left the party. “It is very unfortunate but the reasons are best known to him,” he said. Another NCP leader, however, said that Memon had been unhappy with the party since the Rajya Sabha polls
Former Rajya Sabha MP Abdul Majeed Memon quit the NCP on Thursday ostensibly for “personal reasons”. Memon is said to be upset with the party on account of being sidelined after his term ended on April 2, 2020. The noted criminal lawyer was expecting a second term but the party leadership chose Fauziya Khan over him.

“My gratitude to NCP Chief Hon’ble Sharad Pawarji for giving me honour and invaluable guidance during my 16 years with the NCP. For personal reasons I cease to be a member of NCP with immediate effect. My best wishes always with Pawar Saheb and the Party,” Memon tweeted on Thursday.

Another NCP leader, however, said that Memon had been unhappy with the party since the Rajya Sabha polls. “He made this clear by not attending party meetings. It is believed that he is in talks with the Congress and Samajwadi Party now,” he said.
