Constable shot dead by unidentified assailants in Bihar’s Munger: Police

A 38-year-old constable of the Bihar military police was shot dead by unidentified assailants while he was returning to his house in Bihar’s Munger area on Monday evening, police said.

The constable, Aman Kumar, was working in a bomb squad team in Darbhanga. He had come to his native village on Monday morning.

Subdivisional police officer (SDPO) Rajesh Kumar said, “We are trying to ascertain the motive of the killing.”

Family members are yet to lodge an FIR (first information report) but police have started identifying the culprits through technical evidence and have recovered a used cartridge.

“The postmortem has been conducted” SDPO said adding that the probe is underway.

Meanwhile, family members are yet to come to terms with their loss.

Bimla Devi, mother of the constable said that he was returning to his house on bike from the site where he was getting a house built when he was shot dead.

“We don’t know who killed my son, but everything is ruined,” she said.

The wife and minor daughter of the deceased constable said they don’t know why criminals killed him.
