Contaminated water supply irks residents in Balewadi
We will look into the matter immediately, and our officials will visit the place soon. We have installed water meters and the problem of adequate water supply is only in a few housing societies, PMC clarified
PUNE Residents of Balewadi and surrounding areas have been receiving contaminated water supply from past few days and despite raising complaints with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) they are yet to get a response.

The water is murky and has an unpleasant taste and sometimes emits an odour, causing health concerns, claim residents.
Residents living in and around Palak Park, Faith Society, Aditya Park, Vittal Mandir Road and Balewadi Village Road amongst other areas have been receiving contaminated drinking water for the past three days.
Ameya Jagtap, area resident, said, not just this area but major parts of Balewadi are getting contaminated water supply. It’s only that most of us have installed a water purifier that goes unnoticed.
“When we store water in vessels it is cloudy. The water received emits an odour and has an unpleasant taste,” he said.
Bhushan Kole, another area resident, said, “When contacted PMC officials they claim there is a blockage or some pipeline has been damaged. Due to this the area is receiving contaminated water. Sometimes they say that the water lines were dug due to which there is contamination in the supply line. The taste of water is also bad. We hope the issue gets resolved soon.”
Senior citizen, Advocate SO Mashalkar, said, PMC does nothing and the Balewadi area has multiple problems and lacks basic amenities. “This happens frequently and the civic body should provide a permanent solution to the issue. We want adequate supply of water to the Balewadi area,” he said.
Aniruddha Pawaskar, head of the water supply department, PMC, said, “We will look into the matter immediately, and our officials will visit the place soon. We have installed water meters and the problem of adequate water supply is only in a few housing societies. The water supplied by PMC is checked and processed before distribution.”
