Drastic drop in night temp as Pune shivers at 8.6 °C

Pune is expected to experience cold to very cold weather for the next few days as a fresh western disturbance has hit the northern part of the country

Pune city on Monday reported a drastic drop in night temperature. The minimum temperature reported at Shivajinagar was 8.6 degrees Celsius. On Sunday, the night temperature reported was y at 13.4 degrees Celsius. The night temperature dropped by 4.8 degrees on Monday resulting in the coldest day of the month for Pune.

Pune is expected to experience cold to very cold weather for the next few days as a fresh western disturbance has hit the northern part of the country.

On Monday night, the temperature in Pune city was 2.4 degrees cooler than normal. Whereas day temperature was reported to be 29.1 degrees Celsius which was just 0.1 degrees warmer than normal.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Pashan on Monday reported 10.4 degrees Celsius whereas Lohegaon reported 12.4 degrees Celsius during the night.

Chinchwad reported night temperature of 15.5 degrees Celsius, Lavale reported 16.7 degrees Celsius and Magarpatta reported 15.6 degrees Celsius on Monday according to the India Meteorological Department.

As per IMD, temperatures across Maharashtra reported a drop on Monday. On Monday, Jalgaon reported to be the coldest city in Maharashtra with night temperature of 5 degrees Celsius. Also, the highest maximum temperature reported across Maharashtra was at 34 degrees Celsius at Ratnagiri.

Anupam Kashyapi, head of weather forecasting department at IMD Pune said that further fall of night temperature is expected across Maharashtra.

“Central Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada are likely to report a drop in night temperature with cold wave-like situations persisting in these areas on January 10 as well. Night temperature for Pune city is likely to be in single digits, till January 11. The sky during daytime will be clear and sunny. The day temperature in Pune will continue to be, around 29 degrees Celsius,” said Kashyapi.

As per IMD, the minimum temperatures in many parts of Vidarbha and Maharashtra were reported to be below normal by 4 to 6 degrees on Monday.The lowest minimum temperature was reported at Narnaul in South Haryana at 2.4 degrees Celsius.
