To intensify the agitation over Maratha reservation, community members from Pune district have started a chain strike from Wednesday to support quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil’s hunger protest.

Members of the community said they will carry out a candle march on October 28 from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue located at Shivajinagar to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Statue at Deccan.

Rajendra Kunjir, Maratha Kranti Morcha coordinator, said, “We are with Patil. To support his agitation, those from Pune have started a protest near Ambedkar Statue at Pune railway station as a part of chain agitation.”

Meanwhile, demonstrators from the community blocked the Pune-Nashik highway near Chakan in the morning and blocked vehicular traffic. Later, the road was cleared by police.
