MTech student dies after falling off public bus, run over by school bus in Pune
The school bus was travelling alongside the public transport bus on its left when Khadda fell and came under its front wheels.
A 25-year-old second-year MTech student of the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Girinagar, died after falling from a crowded Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus and run over by a school bus at Anandnagar on Sinhagad Road at around 9:45 am on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Kanchan Balwant Khadda of Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, said inspector Sameer Gaikwad of Sinhagad Road Police Station.

Police action
Police have initiated the process of registering a case against the drivers of both buses. The drivers have been sent to Sassoon General Hospital for medical examination.
According to Gaikwad, Khadda was staying in a DIAT hostel. She had completed her engineering degree from IIT-BHU, Varanasi, and was pursuing her higher studies in semiconductor chip design at DIAT. She aspired to pursue a PhD.

“Khadda was travelling from Khadakwasla to the DRDO laboratory in Dighi for a practical session. Around 9.45 am, she fell from the front door of a PMPML bus. It is not yet known how she fell or lost her grip on the grab bars,” Gaikwad said.
What happened?
The school bus was travelling alongside the public transport bus on its left when Khadda fell and came under its front wheels, he said. Passersby told police that the PMPML bus was crowded.

Khadda was taken to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared her dead during treatment.
Police have informed her parents and DIAT officials.
