Review citizenship law: SGPC to Centre
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Gobind Singh Longowal has asked the central government to review the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA).

The apex gurdwara body is controlled by the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), an ally of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre. The SAD had voted in favour of CAA in Parliament.
The Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of the Sikhs, had also said the CAA was against the minorities and asked for inclusion of Muslims in the amended act.
“The Centre must address the fear of minorities, including Muslims, by reviewing the CAA and make necessary amendments in it,” said Longowal replying to a question after the executive committee meeting of the SGPC in Fatehgarh Sahib on Thursday.
The SGPC will send a “bir” (copy) of Guru Granth in a chartered plane to Canada, besides starting a daily bus service from the Golden Temple to Kartarpur Corridor integrated check post to facilitate pilgrims visiting Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan, he said.
