Noida: Enmity over land ends with two getting man drunk, strangling him
Exactly a month after Kumar went missing from Garhi Chaukhandi village in Noida, the police recovered his body from a drain alongside Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad expressway at the instance of the arrested accused.
Two persons were arrested on Monday evening for allegedly murdering 38-year-old Sarvan Kumar over a land dispute case.

Exactly a month after Kumar went missing from Garhi Chaukhandi village in Noida, the police recovered his body from a drain alongside Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad expressway at the instance of the arrested accused.
Sushil Yadav and Satveer Yadav, both residents of Behlolpur village in Noida Phase 3, were arrested by Noida sector 58 police team after they allegedly confessed to having murdered Kumar on the evening of April 29 at their rented residence in Behlolpur.
Both the accused are from Hasanpur village in Amroha and Satveer is Sushil’s brother-in-law.
According to the police, Kumar’s wife Neetu and his father Dharamveer Singh had lodged a missing person complaint with the police on May 26 saying that Kumar has been missing since April 28.
On May 29, Dharamveer lodged a complaint of murder against accused Sushil upon which the police brought Sushil in for questioning.
“On the first day of our investigation, Sushil confessed to murdering Kumar by choking him with a stole (dupattta) after getting him drunk. Another person, Satveer, was also arrested in connection with the murder. On their instance, we recovered the body from a drain alongside the expressway,” said Dilip Singh Bisht, station house officer, Sector 58 police station.
According to the police, Sushil and Satveer murdered Kumar over a land dispute which arose after Sushil’s brother-in-law Prem committed suicide and Prem’s wife married Kumar.
“Prem had married Neetu three years ago. However, three months later, Prem committed suicide by consuming sulpha tablets (used for pest control). After six months, Neetu delivered a child and Sushil’s father-in-law gifted 4,375 square metres of land to her for her son’s future. However, Neetu married Sarvan Kumar and the duo sold that piece of land. This became the bone of contention between Sushil and Kumar,” Bisht said.
“On April 29, Sushil received a call from Kumar and was asked to meet him near the Shani temple in Chijarsi village. When they met, Kumar, who was allegedly drunk, started abusing Sushil. Later, Sushil took him to his rented place in Behlolpur village on the pretext of drinking together. Sushil had also called Satveer there and after getting Kumar drunk, they strangled him with a dupatta. Later, Sushil and Satveer dumped the body in the drain,” Bisht said.
The duo has been remanded in judicial custody.
