Mumbai Indians have already endured nine defeats, which is the most losses faced by the franchise in an IPL season. Wankhede will be electric tonight with support for both sides but Mumbai Indians will nose ahead of their closest rivals, with the venue being in Mumbai. In terms of wickets, Dwayne Bravo heads the list, having plucked 30 wickets against Mumbai Indians. His long-time pal Kieron Pollard is the most successful bowler for the Mumbai franchise with 14 plucks against Chennai.

From the current lot, MS Dhoni has scored the most runs against Mumbai Indians. The skipper has got 617 runs against the IPL rivals. For Mumbai, Rohit Sharma leads the panel with 661 runs against the Super Kings.

As Mumbai face a nightmarish campaign, Ishan Kishan feels the side will 'make it right' in the next season of the IPL.

"Ups and downs are very much a part of this game. Yes, we will lose matches, there will be matches where we would not perform, but what matters is how we keep the process right throughout the season. We want to win matches, we are giving our best, but unfortunately, we lost many close matches this season," said the young keeper-batter before the CSK game.

MS Dhoni may have turned back the clock to seal a thrilling win for Chennai in the last game, but five-time winners Mumbai remain ahead in head-to-head record. Mumbai have won 19 games, while Chennai have 14 victories under their belt.

While Bumrah was his usual self in the previous game, he needs support from other bowlers tonight. The onus will be on Daniel Sams and Riley Meredith to pluck regular wickets and keep the scoring rate in check. Kumar Kartikeya Singh, who has got three wickets in three games, also needs to turn up in the crucial game.

On the bowling front, Mumbai have Jasprit Bumrah who decimated Kolkata Knight Riders with maiden IPL fifer in the previous game. The Indian quick returned 5/10 in his four overs, albeit in a losing cause.

"When you contribute with wickets it's a good feeling, but the important thing is to make the team win," said Bumrah after Mumbai were dismissed for just 113 in 17.3 overs.

Suryakumar was among the players retained by the Mumbai outfit ahead of the ongoing season. He was impressive with the bat, scoring 303 runs including three half-centuries in eight matches this year for MI.

The likes of Tilak Varma, Tim David, Ramandeep Singh and Kieron Pollard need to turn up tonight in Surya's absence.

While Chennai have lost Jadeja, Mumbai suffered a major blow in their victory over Gujarat Titans last week. Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the season with an arm injury.

"Mumbai Indians batter Suryakumar Yadav has been ruled out of the TATA IPL 2022 owing to a left forearm muscle injury," the IPL said in a statement.
