With fans back in the stadium, the ongoing Test between India and Sri Lanka in Bengaluru witnessed a minor security breach as three individuals invaded the pitch towards the closing stage of Day 2. Two out of three even managed to click a selfie with former India captain Virat Kohli as security personnel quickly took control of the situation.
The incident took place in the sixth over of the Sri Lankan second innings as physio were attending Kusal Mendis after he was hit by a delivery bowled by Mohammed Shami.
It was at this moment three fans breached security and came close to Kohli, who obliged for a selfie and tried to stop the security personnel from dealing with the situation harshly.
The video of the incident soon went viral on social media as many fans hailed Kohli's gesture despite the breach.
One spectator had also managed to enter the playing area during the first Test in Mohali.
Meanwhile, Kohli's lean patch continued as he scored 23 and 13 in the ongoing Test and the numbers saw his career batting average slip below 50 for the first time since 2017. He needed 43 runs to stay within the mark, but fell short by seven runs and hence his present average stands as 49.95.
