Hong Kong qualify for Asia Cup 2022; to meet India, Pakistan in Group A
Hong Kong defeated UAE on Wednesday to qualify for Asia Cup 2022.
Hong Kong qualified for the Asia Cup and will take on India and Pakistan in Group A, after they defeated the United Arab Emirates in the final qualifying round. Chasing 148 to win, Hong Kong reached their target with an over to spare with Yasim Murtaza top scoring on 58.

Ehsan Khan shined for Hong Kong with the ball, registering figures of 4/24 while Ayush Shukla also picked three wickets to help bowl the UAE out on 147. In the run-chase, Murtaza slammed a half-century while Babar Hayat also scored a quick-fire unbeaten 38 off 26 deliveries to take the side past the target with an over to spare.
Hong Kong will take on India in their first game of Group A on August 31, and will meet Pakistan on September 2. The proceedings in the group begin with a blockbuster clash between India and Pakistan on August 28. The top-2 teams from the group qualify for the Super Four.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are placed in Group B of the Asia Cup.
The tournament begins on August 27 with Afghanistan taking on Sri Lanka.
On Wednesday, the players from India and Pakistan took part in their first training session upon landing in UAE. India's batting great Virat Kohli and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam also met on the sidelines of their respective sessions.
