Virat Kohli was presented the International Player of the Year award for both 2017 and 2018 by English cricket’s semi-organised fan group that calls themselves Barmy Army.
The trophies were handed over to the Indian cricket team captain after Day 1 of the practice match against Essex on Wednesday had come to an end.
The BCCI shared the picture of the Indian skipper being presented with the prizes on its official Twitter account on Wednesday.
Kohli had a good day out in the middle during India’s only warm-up game for the tour vs. Essex, scoring a half-century as the visitors ended the opening day of the three-day match on 322-6.
Kohli, who had a tough time during the previous Test tour of England in 2014, played a key role in rebuilding the Indian innings after they lost key players like Shikhar Dhawan and Cheteshwar Pujara early.
Batting with Murali Vijay, the skipper steadied the innings with 93-ball 68, sharing a 90-run partnership with Vijay four the fourth wicket.
Day 2 of the tour match begins at 3:30 PM IST on Thursday.
