India vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Day 1: Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja slammed half-centuries through the final session as India ended Day 1 on 258/4. India didn't lose a wicket in the third session of the day, with both the batters scoring at a relatively brisk rate in the session -- especially against the spinners. While Iyer brought his half-century in 94 deliveries in his maiden Test, Jadeja scored his fifty in 100 deliveries. Earlier, New Zealand had made inroads in the second session after striking quick wickets of Shubman Gill (52), Cheteshwar Pujara (26) and captain Ajinkya Rahane (35) to put India under pressure. Kyle Jamieson, in particular, had been key again for the Kiwis as he continued on his good run against India. India had won the toss and opted to bat against New Zealand in Kanpur.
