Romario Shepherd to Saif Badar, no run

OUT! CAUGHT! Saif Badar has thrown it away as well. Romario Shepherd bowls it back of a length and angles it into the body. Badar hops back and nurdles it across the line, but chips it straight to short mid-wicket, where Rushil Ugarkar takes a sharp catch. 70 still needed off 39 balls.

1:26 AM IST Player of the Match - MI New York skipper Nicholas Pooran is given the award for his fine knock of 70 unbeaten off 58 balls on a tough surface. Pooran starts by thanking the almighty and says that, given the conditions, there was an opportunity for him to take responsibility. He feels that LAKR have a long batting lineup, but knew that if they kept things in check early on, it would give them a chance. Pooran goes on to credit the bowlers and the players for acknowledging the big moments in the game. Mentions that it would have been terrible to lose back-to-back games and says that this big win will give them a boost, but they will take it game-by-game.
1:25 AM IST One down, one to go - Righto, we have seen ball rule over the bat yet again at Oakland and the opening match of the day was truly a low-scoring affair. Next up, there's one more game to go as Washington Freedom take on Texas Super Kings. TSK have elected to bat first in that game, and you can simply switch tabs and join all the action. Cheers!
1:16 AM IST The Presentation ceremony...
1:16 AM IST Recapping the first innings - After opting to bowl first, Los Angeles Knight Riders picked up a couple of wickets in the Powerplay. Quinton de Kock played a handy knock up front, after which Nicholas Pooran steadied the innings for MI New York. The Knight Riders managed to stem the flow of runs in the middle overs but Pooran fought through and hit a fine 70 to take his team to a score of 144. Andre Russell was prolific with the ball, picking up 4 wickets as the Knight Riders put on a solid showing with the ball.
1:11 AM IST Let's hear from the skipper of LAKR - Jason Holder says that it was a good effort from the bowlers and it was unfortunate the way they batted. Adds that there weren't just enough partnerships and lost too many wickets in the middle overs. Mentions that they are set to play tomorrow again and it's their first loss, so they will learn from it.
