WPL 2023, RCB vs MI Highlights: Mumbai Indians beat Bangalore by four wickets, climb to pole position

Smriti Mandhana comes into the attack. A rare moment and she is welcomed with a four by Amelia Kerr. The batter plays two dots before Mandhana pitches it down the leg stumps, which results in five byes. 

With this Mumbai Indians complete the 126-run chase in 16.3 overs and win the contest by four wickets. Amelia Kerr returns unbeaten on 31 off 27 balls.

Kanika Ahuja strikes in consecutive balls as Issy Wong departs for a first ball duck. She also tries to play an attacking shot but ends up handing a simple catch to Smriti Mandhana. MI: 120/6 (16 overs)

Kanika Ahuja picks her first WPL wicket as Pooja Vastrakar is caught by Smriti Mandhana at long-off for 19(18). She goes for the big hits but only manages the elevation, not the distance. Mandhana holds on to the high catch as Mumbai lose their fifth wicket. MI: 120/5 (15.5 overs)

Preeti Bose concedes seven runs as MI reach 115-4 in 15 overs.

Megan Schutt is brought back into the attack and she is hit for a four by Amelia Kerr. Pre meditated as Kerr goes deep inside the crease and flicks the ball over the keeper for a boundary. 

Nine runs come off the over. MI: 108/4 (14 overs)

Preeti Bose comes into the attack and concedes just four runs. MI: 99/4 (13 overs)

Pooja Vastrakar hits Shreyanka Patil for a couple of boundaries. Both came off excellent cover drives. Meanwhile, Mumbai reach 95/4 in 12 overs.

Amelia Kerr reverse sweeps Asha Shobana for a boundary as six runs come off her over. MI: 85-4 (11 overs)

Nat Sciver-Brunt hits Asha Shobana for a six in the first ball but is caught-behind two balls later. It was slightly short, outside off, and it takes the edge off Sciver-Brunt's bat before settling in Richa Ghosh's gloves. Good keeping by Ghosh as Sciver-Brunt falls for 13 (7)

Ellyse Perry cleans up Harmanpreet Kaur in the next over. Bowls it full as Kaur looks to drive it. However, she gets an inside edge in the process, which then knocks the stumps. MI: 79/4 (10 overs)

Megan Schutt is reintroduced and she delivers straightaway. A flatter delivery, slightly wide and Hayley Matthews plays it straight towards Smriti Mandhana at cover. She falls for 24(17).

Two runs and a wicket come off the over. MI: 64/2 (8 overs)

Asha Shobana is introduced in the attack and she concedes just five runs until the fifth ball. Her final ball, which is short and wide, is pulled for a four by Nat Sciver-Brunt. MI: 62/1 (7 overs)

Shreyanka Patil continues from the other end and she is hit for a boundary in the first ball by Hayley Matthews. 

Patil then dismisses Yastika Bhatia in the final ball. Bhatia tries to play an attacking shot but her shot is caught brilliantly by Smriti Mandhana at mid-on. She falls for 30(26). RCB: 53/1 (6 overs)

Ellyse Perry comes into the attack and she is welcomed with a four by Yastika Bhatia in the second ball. Yastika hits the all-rounder for two more boundaries in the over as MI move to 46/0 after 5 overs.

Shreyanka Patil comes into the attack and she starts from over the wickets. Bowls three dots, before switching to round. She is then hit for two fours following her switch. MI: 34/0 (4 overs)

Another tight over by Megan Schutt as just a couple of singles come off it. MI: 25/0 (3 overs)

Hayley Matthew's fortune once again saves her. This time she was caught-behind but TV replay confirm Sophie Devine had overstepped. This was the second no-ball Sophie bowled in her over. 

15 runs come off it as MI reach 23/0 (2 overs)

Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia start the run chase as Megan Schutt leads the attack for RCB.

She almost gets rid of Hayley Matthews in the first over but DRS comes to her rescue. TV replay confirms that the ball was missing the stump.

Yastika Bhatia then hits Schutt for a four, which was in the air and not very wide of the point fielder. Times it well and the ball races to the boundary towards the third man region. 

Six runs come off the over. MI: 6/0 (1 over)

Issy Wong comes to bowl the final over and she gets rid of Richa Ghosh in the first ball. Ghosh tries to clear the boundary but ends up giving a catch to Amelia Kerr at long-on. She falls for 29 (13). 

Kerr then goes on to produce a brilliant fielding effort later in the over as she saved a boundary off Asha Shobana's bat for her side. Dives and stops the ball just whenever everyone thought it was a four. Two runs come off it.

Wong then cleans up Disha Kasat for 2(5) to restrict RCB to 125/9 in 20 overs.

Amelia Kerr  comes to bowl the 19th over and Richa Ghosh is dropped at long-on in the second ball. Richa, who had already hit Kerr for a four in the first ball, gets another as 11 runs come off the over. RCB: 119-7 (19 overs)

Saika Ishaque comes into the attack and almost gets rid of Megan Schutt. She traps Schutt LBW in the first ball but DRS saves her. TV replay confirms the ball was missing the stumps.

A ball later Richa Ghosh hits the spinner for a huge six. The spinner pitches it wide but the power of Richa sends it beyond the fence towards long-on.

Saika Ishaque once again makes a LBW appeal against Megan Schutt. This time it is given not-out by the umpire and Mumbai go for a review. TV replay confirms it was out. She falls for 2(5). RCB: 108-7 (18 overs)

Nat Sciver-Brunt strikes as she traps Ellyse Perry LBW for 29(38). Perry shuffles across the crease and goes on her knees to play it on the on-side. However, she fails to make any connection and the ball hits her pads. Perry knows she is out, doesn't waste time referring it. 

Sciver-Brunt strikes again in the same over. This time bowls a yorker and beats Shreyanka Patil on her defence to knock the stumps. She falls for 4(3).

RCB: 100-6 (17 overs)

Richa Ghosh hits Issy Wong for a four and a six as 12 runs come off the over. RCB: 91/4 (16 overs)

Amelia Kerr strikes as Kanika Ahuja is stumped for 12(13). The batter charges down the wicket, but Kerr pitches it short, wide, and it spins away from the batter. Easy stumping for Yastika Bhatia. 

RCB: 79/4 (15 overs)

Saika Ishaque comes into the attack. She starts with a couple of dots, before Kanika Ahuja smashes her for a boundary. Pitches it full on middle and leg, Kanika goes down on her knees and slog sweeps it for a four towards the mid-wicket region. Seven runs come off the over. RCB: 76/3 (14 overs)

Kanika Ahuja and Ellyse Perry rotate the strike and gather seven runs from Nat Sciver-Brunt's third over. RCB: 69/3 (13 overs)
