Full list of records Maxwell-starrer Australia created with highest-ever win over Netherlands at ODI World Cup
Glenn Maxwell and David Warner slammed centuries as Australia smashed multiple records against the Netherlands at the ODI World Cup.
Glenn Maxwell and David Warner slammed sublime centuries as Pat Cummins' Australia turned matchday 24 of the ICC World Cup 2023 into an absolute run-fest in New Delhi on Wednesday. Batting first in its crucial World Cup fixture against giant killers Netherlands, Australia posted a gigantic total of 399-8 in the 50-over contest at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

While Warner and Maxwell notched up brilliant centuries, former skipper Steve Smith (71) and Marnus Labuschagne (62) played stroke-filled knocks to help Australia register its second-highest total at the World Cup. Veteran opener Warner smashed his second successive century while power-hitter Maxwell registered the fastest World Cup century as five-time champions Australia smashed a plethora of records against the Netherlands.
Warner closing in on Rohit's record
Extending his free-scoring run in the 2023 edition of the ICC World Cup, Warner completed his 6th century of the ICC event in 91 balls. Warner hit 11 fours and three sixes in his 104-run knock off 93 balls. Warner is only behind Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who holds the record for smashing the most centuries (7) in World Cup cricket. The senior Aussie opener has hit 6 centuries in 23 innings while Rohit has seven tons under his belt in 22 innings at the World Cup.
After Warner and Smith laid the foundation for a massive total, star batter Maxwell played a blinder of a knock to achieve a spectacular feat in the World Cup. The Australian batter smashed the fastest century in the history of the World Cup. Maxwell completed his record-breaking century in just 40 balls.
Maxwell creates World Cup history
For the second time in the history of World Cup cricket, an Australian innings featured two centuries. Australia had achieved the special feat for the first time in its previous World Cup outing against Pakistan. Maxwell and skipper Cummins recorded a 103-run stand against the Netherlands. The duo achieved the third-highest stand for a 100-plus partnership at the World Cups in terms of run rates. Cummins and Maxwell also recorded the highest 7th wicket stand for Australia in the World Cup. Maxwell smoked eight sixes in his whirlwind knock of 106 off 44 balls.
Famous win for Australia
The power-hitter has taken the third spot in the list of batters with the most sixes for Australia in the 50-over format. Maxwell has fired 138 sixes while Ricky Ponting holds the top spot with 159 maximums in ODIs. While Maxwell-starrer Australia reached new heights, Netherlands' Bas de Leede scripted an unwanted record in the 50-over format. Leede leaked 115 runs in his 10 overs - the most by any bowler in an ODI innings. Adam Zampa secured his 12th 4-wicket haul for Australia in ODI cricket. Only legendary spinner Shane Warne has taken more 4-wicket hauls (13) than Zampa. Australia thrashed the Netherlands by 309 runs to record the highest-ever win by runs in the history of the World Cup.
