Yuvraj Singh at odds with his father Yograj’s take on Arjun Tendulkar but says, ‘if I keep working with him…’

Yuvraj Singh had words of praise for Arjun Tendulkar, highlighting the youngster’s dedication as he looks to carve his own path beyond the shadow of his father, Sachin Tendulkar. Arjun has begun a fresh stint with Lucknow Super Giants after moving on from Mumbai Indians, where Sachin continues to be part of the set-up as a mentor. The left-arm all-rounder didn’t get many opportunities during his time at MI and struggled to leave a mark, but the switch to LSG has already drawn interest, with many keen to see how he makes use of this new phase in his career.

Recently, Arjun named Yuvraj as his cricketing idol, as the two have also spent time together with the legendary all-rounder training the youngster during off-days from competitive cricket.

Yuvraj reflected on their bond, drawing on his own experiences with Sachin and on how he is now passing those lessons on to his son.

"That's amazing because I've learned most of the things from his father-mental battles, physical battles, and technical battles. I am passing the same things to Arjun. He is learning from me, which is great. He is a nice kid; he is very sharp and picks up things very easily. I really wish that I could match his level of hard work. He loves the game. His father is probably the best player that I've seen. It is fascinating to see Arjun's commitment levels," Yuvraj said on SportsTak.

“Arjun is a bowler who can bat”

Meanwhile, Yuvraj Singh offered a slightly different view from his father Yograj Singh, who believes Arjun Tendulkar is a better batter than a bowler. Yuvraj, however, sees him primarily as a bowler who can contribute with the bat, adding that his batting will improve further with regular work and guidance.

"When Arjun started his cricket, he was a better bowler. He is still learning as a batter. If he continues to work on that, he will definitely improve. I feel that at one stage even he is going to say, 'I'm not sure if I am strong with my bowling or batting.' But I still feel he is a bowler who can bat. I was a batter who could bowl. If I keep working with him, his batting will definitely improve," he added.
