The Air strip at Naini Saini is likley to become operational, sources in the civil aviation department said. This comes after Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) visit ed the airstrip last month. An Airport Authority of India (AAI) team also visited the airstrip and found it “almost ready for commercial flights.The AAI team headed by its senior officer CS Tiwari inspected all the points that were objected to during its last visit a year ago. “We have checked the developments at the air strip that were suggested by our team last time and have found it almost ready for the scheduled flights,” said the senior AAI officer.Pithoragarh District Magistrate C Ravi Shankar said that the objections raised by DGCA team in its last visit have been rectified by the contractor and the air strip is heading towards clearance from the civil aviation for scheduled flights. “Some minor objections raised by AAI team will soon be cleared, to link it with schedule chart of DGCA,” the DM said.
