Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators led by Gopal Rai on Monday submitted over “10 lakh” letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding full statehood for Delhi.

While Modi did not meet them, Rai said only an under-secretary of the public grievance cell at the prime minister’s office (PMO) met them to accept the bundles of letters.

“Despite me writing a letter to the PM seeking an appointment for today, we got no response. The people of Delhi receive step-motherly treatment from the central government in their own home state,” said Rai.

The police stopped them at Sansad Marg. Later, a legislators submitted the letters at the PMO. The team of MLAs included Rai, AAP MLA from Chandni Chowk Alka Lamba and leader Dilip Pandey.
