The Press Information Bureau (PIB) and much of its publicity offices will move out to the new address. The media centre was conceived by the PIB to facilitate better media access to the government with high-tech facilities. The centre is located close to Delhi’s seats of power, such as Parliament and key ministries.

The media centre’s main press conference auditorium can hold 300 journalists. It has a high-speed fibre-optic internet connectivity and video conferencing, dedicated feeding units for TV crews as well as a library and a lounge.
