NEW DELHI: A 45-year-old businessman allegedly committed suicide on Sunday morning by shooting himself in his car using a country-made pistol in northeast Delhi’s Usmanpur.

Before taking the extreme step, the businessman sent a text message to his son and informed him about his location.

The deceased was identified as Ashok Bansal. He owned a dairy business in northeast Delhi, police said.

Senior police officers said that the exact reason behind Bansal’s extreme step could not be ascertained till Sunday evening as he did not leave behind any suicide note.

T he police are in touch with his family members to understand what drove him to kill himself. A police officer said that the incident took place around 10 am.
