2G case: Court to hear Kanimozhi bail plea today

A special CBI court hearing the 2G spectrum scam case on Saturday would pronounce its verdict on the bail application filed by DMK MP Kanimozhi, who has been chargesheeted in the case.

The special judge OP Saini had reserved its order on May 7 after hearing the arguments of her lawyer Ram Jethmalani and that of CBI.

Jethmalani had argued that she had no role in the scam and it was Raja who created the entire mess.

"She was a minority shareholder in Kalaignar TV and never participated in day-today affairs of the company," said Jethmalani.

CBI special prosecutor UU Lalit opposed her bail saying, “Controlling mind of Kalaignar TV on papers is Sharad Kumar, but behind the scene the person who is controlling everything in Kalaignar TV is this lady (Kanimozhi)”.

Lalit told the court: “Raja was close to Kanimozhi. It is because of this closeness that the kickbacks found destination in Kalaignar TV”.
