To curb instances of overcharging and other illegal activities in municipality-run parking sites, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation has empowered zonal offices to take action against errant contractors.
Earlier only the head office had the power to revoke licences or impose fines on contractors, but with the new guidelines, the deputy commissioners of each of the six zones can launch a crackdown on the offenders.
